Research interests: My interests ultimately revolve around how the immune system impacts the development and shaping of the brain, so that we may better understand how immune responses can affect behavior. In this vein, I am investigating how the immune response following seizures may contribute to the development of autism and intellectual deficits by examining the role of microglia in a genetic mouse model that develops chronic seizures as well as autistic-like behavior and cognitive deficits.
